Main research areas and special research interests

Main research interests include mouse models in airway allergy, and how data from murine experiments may be interpreted into human. My research area also covers the investigation of the effect of industrial chemicals on the airways (irritation, inflammation, adjuvant effect) using mice as the model animal.

Thus, I have been involved in the evaluation of airway irritation and inflammation caused by organic solvents (cf. ref. 3, 4, 15, 17 in list of publication), metabolites from fungi (ref. 1), and mixtures of reactive chemicals (ref. 5). Furthermore, I have been investigating adjuvant effects of industrial chemicals to characterise their hazard in relation to development of allergic asthma and rhinitis (ref. 6-9, 11, 13, 14, 19-23).

I have been involved in a study where the inflammatory potentials of phthalate metabolites were assessed by use of an in vitro assay using the human lung epithelial cell, A549 (ref. 12).

Also, I have been working with structure-activity relationships (ref. 4, 6, 7, 9, 11-14).

More recently, I have been involved in projects investigating toxicological effects of particles, including nanoparticles (ref. 26, 27, 28, 31).
