Long-term sickness absence, risk of premature
exit from the labour market and work-related musculoskeletal disorders are
shown associated with physical exposures at work. However, effective
intervention strategies for preserving sufficient levels of work ability,
and therefore preventing long-term sickness absence, premature exit from
the labour marked and musculoskeletal disorders in jobs with different
physically exposures remain unknown. Therefore, the aim of this project is
to attain information about work-related and individual determinants for
reduced work ability in physically heavy jobs, and investigate how
detriments in work ability can be prevented in these jobs.
